Project FloatLink delivers a hybrid fibre‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) network across Pretoria North, seamlessly combining aerial deployment on existing poles with underground trenching where protection is critical. For challenging underground ducts, the project employs water‑based floating (not to be confused with compressed‑air jetting, which uses a parachute‑like device for cleaner, less congested ducts) to install cables efficiently while minimising surface disruption.

Technology and Equipment

We operated the Jetting V2 machine to physically “float” fiber cables through tough underground ducts using water-based pressure for Project FloatLink.
We managed the heavy setup and manual handling of the pneumatic equipment to ensure the cable moved smoothly through congested routes across Pretoria North.
Our team closely controlled the joystick and monitored the feed to navigate the hybrid aerial and underground terrain without damaging the infrastructure.
